Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark will raise awareness of Danish food products in Italy

Despite the fact that Italy buys Danish goods in great numbers, the 60 million Italians can easily eat more Danish food products. Therefore, food and beverage companies from Denmark are visiting Italy this November to raise awareness of Danish food products with Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark

With a focus on healthcare, cleantech and food, Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Couple of Denmark will visit Italy with a large Danish trade delegation on the 6th-8th of November. The trade promotion will, among other, aim at finding solutions to some of the current challenges within sustainable food production, that are not only relevant for Denmark and Italy, but all over the world.

The Danish and Italian food industry has several things in common. Both countries’ consumers are increasingly demanding high-quality food products produced with a minimum of food loss and waste. Similarly, sales of organic products in Italy have increased exponentially in the last 10-15 years – an area where Denmark is front runners and can showcase innovative solutions and products within.

Space for more Danish goods on the shelves

With a total export on EUR 2.3 billion in 2017, Italy is Denmark’s 8th biggest export market and an important trade partner. The Danish food and agricultural industry has one of the most efficient and highly developed productions in the world, thus having important knowledge to share on how to operate a sustainable-, green- and intensive food production. Italy primarily import Danish food and agriculture products such as pork, dairy, seafood, ingredients and enzymes.

And there is room for more Danish products on Italian shelves:  “Italy is a large-scale Danish food producer, and even though we do not export as much as to countries like Germany, China and the United Kingdom annually, the country is among the European key markets for many manufacturers. Therefore, we are very pleased that Italy is the destination for this autumn’s royal export promotion event. This will certainly be an opportunity for us to consolidate, further increase and explore new market opportunities in Italy“, says Mette Jasper Gammicchia, Head of Marketing, Nutrition & Market Development at Danish Agriculture & Food Council.
