Copenhagen as guest city at Beijing Design Week 2018
Danish food companies will attend Beijing Design Week 2018 from the 26th of September to the 5th of October, showcasing Danish innovative solutions within the food cluster.
In next week, the annual Beijing Design Week is held in Beijing running over 10 days in September and October. This year, Copenhagen is the official Guest City for Beijing Design Week. Under the theme ‘Living is Giving’ in the vibrant gas tank 751 D-park, Danish food companies will be showcasing their products, concepts and sustainable solutions to the Chinese market, including public decision-makers, businesses, investors and Chinese consumers.
High food safety in demand
In China, consumers are increasingly demanding safe and high-quality food products – and that’s where Danish companies can contribute. High quality and food safety is one of the strongholds of the Danish food cluster, who constantly strive to do better by setting the bar higher. In February 2018, this position for instance led to an agreement on imports of heat-treated pork products from Denmark to China, as one of the first countries in the world. The high degree of food safety in Denmark has been a contributing factor for the agreement and is one of the Danish strongholds that will be showcased at the exhibition.
The organic market accelerates
China’s organic market is growing dynamically and with a progress on 25 % from 2015-2016, China is now the world’s fourth largest organic market. Denmark also have a strong position within organic food production and is today home to one of the most organic markets in the world. At Beijing Design Week, it is possible to explore how Danish know-how positively can contribute to develop organic markets and businesses.
Beijing Design Week will attract around 5 million visitors of which 300,000 are expected to visit the 751 art district area. Here, companies, organizations and other stakeholders meet to share their designs, innovations and solutions in a broad range of industries.
