Copenhagen’s new food exhibition joins forces with international food summit

In August 2017, Denmark and Copenhagen will add a thrilling new chapter to the ongoing gastronomic story that has shaped the country as a world leader within innovative gastronomy, food production and technology. We invite the world to participate. The exhibition is inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Marie of Denmark and will set new standards for what a food exhibition can be.

Taking place on the 24th and 25th of August 2017 at the venue ‘Forum Copenhagen’, Bite Copenhagen will allow exhibitors to showcase their quality products, make connections and be inspired by the newest solutions within gastronomy – creating better food for more people – from more than 100 Danish and international exhibitors looking for new business opportunities. The exhibition is a unique partnership between the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food and BC Hospitality Group. Unique, owing to the fact that the new exhibition will be held along with the second edition of the ”World Food Summit – Better Food for More People” at The Danish National Parliament. Launched for the first time in 2016 by the Danish Minister of Environment and Food, the World Food Summit will see international decision-makers, NGOs, global food companies and opinion leaders gathering on finding new solutions to the global challenges in connection with nformation, food safety, gastronomy and food waste.

My ambition is that the Summit is a driving force within the gastronomic movement ”World Food Summit – Better Food for More People”, aiming at giving the global population increased knowledge about better meals in the cities of the world. Along with the summit, we are creating a food exhibition that will be a proud display of Danish and international actors such as food producers, companies etc. that are contributing with key values, quality products, innovation and knowledge in relation to the global challenges we are facing“, says Danish Minister of Environment and Food, Esben Lunde Larsen.

The World Food Summit establishes the frame in which the cooperation between Bite Copenhagen and the ” World Food Summit – Better Food for More People”will bring selected summit events directly to the Bite Copenhagen exhibition, providing an excellent opportunity to connect with some of the leading figures within the global food scene. The aim is to bridge the gap between politics, inspiration and the development of future solutions through talks and debates between international businesspersons, politicians and gastronomic frontrunners. By connecting, reflecting and trengthening the food industry across regional and national borders, Bite Copenhagen and the summit will provide a solid platform for new business opportunities. Copenhagen and Denmark has taken shape as one of the world’s premier food destinations, teeming with talented chefs and a vast array of both quality-focused artisans and large-scale producers constantly seeking to push the boundaries of innovation, sustainability and taste.
As a cherry on top, Bite Copenhagen and the ” World Food Summit – Better Food for More People” will coincide with the renowned Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival, making a visit in Copenhagen an unmissable opportunity for both business opportunities, new inspiration and the latest gastronomy.

The Food Summit and the exhibition takes place during the Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival, which in 2017 runs from 18th-27th August. The festival offers more than 100 small and large food-events over ten days and is visited by more than 80,000 guests. Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival’s goal is to strengthen Copenhagen as a gastronomic metropolis and Denmark as a culinary nation. Furthermore the ambition is to develop the industry’s involvement in the festival through conferences, symposiums and fairs where the ”World Food Summit – Better Food for More People” and Bite Copenhagen will be flagships” – says festival director Stine Lolk”
