Danish state visit to Ghana

From the 23rd to the 25th of November Her Majesty Queen Margrethe of Denmark is leading the Danish business delegation with the Danish Minister of Environment and Food Esben Lunde Larsen. In the business delegation are 13 food companies showcasing Danish solutions and products.

Ghana is a market in growth and especially agriculture and food products is in rapid growth in Ghana and in the African market in general. This is where Denmark has a lot to offer within knowledge about modern farming, technology and healthy and sustainable food products, says Flemming Nør-Pedersen director at Danish Agriculture and Food Council.
The Danish food cluster exported goods worth 310 million EUR to Africa in 2016 and this number is set to be significantly higher this year.

“I look forward to show the Ghanesian people how Danish companies can contribute to their food production,” says Esben Lunde Larsen

It is expected that the African population will be doubled by 2050 which will create many opportunities for Danish businesses, delivering both agricultural products as well as processed high quality food products for growing population and an increasingly critical middle class, says Flemming Nør-Pedersen.
Even though the Danish export has increased in 2017 there is still a huge unfulfilled potential for Danish companies in Ghana. Ghana has a loss of 50% on the water from waterworks to consumer and in Denmark this number is less than 8%. Within food products Denmark have many solutions within food security, efficiency and sustainable production that can prove beneficial for the West Africans.
